In 1987 she created nanimarquina as a brand dedicated to the design, publishing and distribution of carpets and textile items. In recent years, she has returned to its roots: focusing on the creative side of the brand.
After studying industrial design at the Massana School in Barcelona and seeing the success of her first custom textile designs, Nani Marquina embarked on the, at that time, unknown career as an industrial designer.
True to herself and sensing the results that her designs could achieve, despite the difficulties of that time, in 1987 she created her own company. Nanimarquina was born as a brand dedicated to the design, editing and distribution of rugs and textile items for the home whose principles were based on values such as observation, innovation, emotions and the ability to contemporize artisanal traditions.
From the beginning, Nani Marquina paid special attention and efforts to the research of raw materials and manufacturing processes; factors that enriched the aesthetic value of their designs, the main reason for the brand's commercial success. Furthermore, thanks to her visionary attitude, Nani Marquina incorporated collections from internationally renowned external designers into her catalogue, being the first textile design editor to opt for the concept of designer rugs.
In 1993 Nani Marquina undertook her most daring business adventure: she moved her production to northern India. The incorporation of craftsmanship and tradition as a new design concept differentiated and characterized the brand. New production paths were explored and incorporated through artisanal practices, giving a unique character to their designs.
In 2002, the second generation of the family joined the management of the company, thus consolidating its growth and international expansion. International recognition comes to its products, to the company and to Nani Marquina. Among the awards obtained, in 2005 she received the National Design Award and the Cambra Award for Business Management, as well as several nominations in different editions of the Prince Felipe Awards for Business Excellence. Nani Marquina received the International Women Entrepreneurial Award from the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, an award for her that is added to the FIDEM Award for Entrepreneurial Women in 2007. She has been president of ADP (Association of Professional Designers) and of the Network ( Design Companies Meeting). Likewise, from the beginning of 2014 to 2019, she was the president of the FAD (Foment de les Arts i Disseny), in Barcelona.
Over the past few years she has returned to his roots: Nani has focused on the creative side of the business. Leading the company's design team, they have developed, among other projects, the Tres collection, one of the most successful in the history of nanimarquina.
