Haze

Begüm Cana Özgür

"While working at the loom, I developed a weaving technique that gradually changed the predominance of one color toward the other. The emotional sensation of this fading effect resembled scenes in which the haze of the atmosphere fades the predominance of colors. colors in nature."

— Begüm Cana Özgür

The Haze collection, the second designed by Begüm Cana Özgur, is inspired by the harmony of colors extracted from nature. In those moments where sky, horizon and
surroundings merge into one. A unique synchrony, where they speak to each other, generating a visual balance resulting from the sensitivity of that ethereal moment. Colors that interrelate while becoming difficult to control.

Unlike other creative processes, Haze is a rug that is born directly on the loom, while the designer experimented with chromatic interactions and created color gradations through the optical mixing of colors.

In this collection, a very simple graphic will has been maintained to highlight the color in its maximum splendor. The design has been worked on from two aspects: on the one hand, color and its interrelationship between them; and on the other hand the design of the texture, that is, the graphic lines of the surface that the warps follow. The challenge was finding the right balance between graphic design, the number of warps and the thickness of the weft.

Haze is woven with 50% New Zealand wool and 50% Italian wool, noble, warm, easy-care and highly durable materials. As Begum Cana Özgur points out --- it is a fiber that gives us back the feeling of earth and nature that we miss so much in contemporary buildings .

A reflection on the meaning of contrast in colors (tone, value, temperature and saturation) that culminates in this collection, where the simplicity of graphics gives way to the power of color.
