Tapiz Chillida Gravitación Tinta 1991
Inspired by the work of Eduardo Chillida, this tapestry design pays tribute to the Gravitation collage. Ink 1991.
The gravitations were not simple superimposed sheets but sculptural reliefs. Chillida played with the concept of gravitating almost to the limit since the paper was weightless. The suspension of the different types of paper caused a dramatic effect by creating a new tension in the way the paper fragments overlapped or interspersed and, in turn, created spaces of light and shadow between them.
This tension has been our obsession when transforming this work into a carpet. Playing with ancestral techniques, New Zealand wool fiber and different heights, the suspension that Chillida was looking for in his Gravitations series has been reflected.
